What is WHOIS / RDAP?
WHOIS is a public database that stores information about registered domain names. Our tool uses RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) — the modern, structured successor to the legacy WHOIS protocol.
What information is shown?
- Registrar: The company where the domain was purchased (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap).
- Creation Date: When the domain was first registered.
- Expiry Date: When the registration is set to expire — useful for checking if a domain might soon be available.
- Name Servers: The DNS servers authoritative for the domain.
- Domain Status: ICANN status codes (e.g., clientTransferProhibited).
Domain Age Warning
Domains less than 1 year old are flagged as potentially suspicious — newly registered domains are disproportionately used in phishing and scam campaigns.
