The Database Redirection Engine

A URL shortener does not actually "shrink" the website itself; it acts as a digital switchboard operator.

When you input your massive 150-character link, our database assigns it a tiny, unique 6-character code (like `abc123`). We then generate a new link (e.g., `short.link/abc123`). When a user clicks that tiny link, they hit our server first. Our server instantly looks up `abc123`, finds your massive original link, and transparently redirects the user to the final destination in milliseconds. The user never notices the detour.

How to Shorten a Link

Paste your long URL into the input field. Ensure you include the full protocol (`https://`). Click "Shorten."

The system will instantly generate your new short link. You can immediately click the "Copy" icon to send it to your clipboard. If you want to customize the final 6 characters to make them readable (e.g., `short.link/Sale2024`), you can use the "Custom Alias" option (availability depending on server load).
